Habitat

The McDonald Sportsmen's Association is dedicated to improving the club's grounds for the benefit of wildlife. Through the cooperation of NiSource and Pheasant's Forever the quality of the habitat has steadily improved. Threatened species such as the short-eared owl have been identified on the club's grounds. Pheasants, North American Woodcock, Ruffed Grouse, Deer, Turkey, Ducks, Geese, Foxes and Coyotes are regularly seen using this improved habitat which is a mixture of grassland, woodlands and wetlands.

Every year food plots, warm season grasses, perennial flowers and a variety of bushes and trees are planted.
